Our plans for the Humber
Air Products is developing green hydrogen solutions, together with Associated British Ports, to support the Humber and further afield.
Green hydrogen is critical if we want to avert the worst of the climate crisis. However, its development is slowed down by bottlenecks across the supply chain and the lack of consistent wind and sun throughout the year. Our solution is to scale up the production of green hydrogen in the UK by importing the renewable energy. This can be done via ammonia which, once in the UK, can be used to produce green hydrogen in large, reliable quantities.Immingham is ideally placed to play a significant role in the UK’s energy transition. The Port of Immingham is a deep-water port allowing VLGC (very large gas carriers) to dock. Its location also offers good proximity to end markets and the required utilities.

The Government has identified Immingham as a top priority area for 'levelling up' via investment and growth. We plan to build and run a new renewable energy and hydrogen production facility at Immingham, together with a downstream delivery network.
