Supporting ABP's First Hydrogen Terminal Tractor Trial

Associated British Ports (ABP) is the first UK port operator to trial a hydrogen fuelled tractor at its container terminal at the Port of Immingham alongside a mobile hydrogen filling station provided by Air Products.

This joint pilot project, which received funding from ORE Catapult through Innovate UK’s Hydrogen Innovation Initiative, is a key activity in the bid to decarbonise port operations, and an important step in the creation, delivery, and use of hydrogen at the Port of Immingham.

Partnering with ABP on Renewable Hydrogen Production

Air Products and Associated British Ports announce their intention to partner in bringing the first large scale, green hydrogen production facility to the UK. The companies will work together to bring the new green hydrogen facility to the Port of Immingham.

The facility would import green ammonia from production locations operated by Air Products and its partners around the world. This would be used to produce green hydrogen, which would decarbonise hard-to-abate sectors such as transport and industry.

Immingham sits within the UK’s largest industrial cluster and in close proximity to proposed offshore transport and storage networks for CO₂. The scheme follows on from an existing Air Products plan to develop the UK’s largest blue hydrogen facility in Immingham, making the Humber a major location for low-carbon energy production, businesses and jobs.
