Air Products Launches Company’s First European Sustainability Week

Launch Coincides with the European Union’s Sustainable Development Week

Business leaders from Air Products have united this week to share knowledge and encourage action on areas including Hydrogen for Mobility, Carbon Capture, Energy Transition, and Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging.

The series of events form part of Air Products’ ‘Sustainability Week in Europe’ initiative, bringing together teams from several European countries with the company’s leaders and sustainability experts. The launch of the Air Products’ initiative coincides with the European Union’s Sustainable Development Week (ESDW), an initiative running in September to facilitate activities that promote sustainable development.

Air Products, a world-leading industrial gas company, is at the forefront of positive change through its Grow-Conserve-Care sustainability approach, recording impressive sustainability achievements over the last year, despite the global pandemic.

Air Products’ President, Europe and Africa Ivo Bols, opened the week’s proceedings by talking about ‘Sustainable Growth for a Sustainable Future Globally.’ He was accompanied by the company’s Chairman, President and CEO, Seifi Ghasemi and Vice President of Investor Relations, Corporate Relations and Sustainability, Simon Moore

Mr. Bols said: “Collectively, in Europe and beyond, we face pressing energy and environmental challenges that can only be tackled if we transcend borders and work together to drive forward existing and new solutions.

“At Air Products, our focus and higher purpose is to bring people together to collaborate on solving some of the worlds’s most significant energy and environmental sustainability challenges.

“This spirit of partnership has already allowed us to support our customers in achieving major reductions in carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. Air Products is also spearheading real, tangible projects, like our $7 billion total investment to deliver 650 tons per day of green hydrogen, which will be used to power transport around the world.”

Suzanne Lowe, Vice President UK & Ireland, Air Products said: “The roll out of  the Sustainability Week inititiative in the UK and Ireland is an excellent opportunity to bring together every level of our business and support a continued commitment to driving the sustainability agenda forward, through our three pillars Grow, Conserve and Care. This is supported at the very top of our business and embodied in the work of our teams in the UK, across Europe, and worldwide, every day.”

Air Products’ recent 2021 Sustainability Report reveals both positive action and stringent future targets against its three core sustainability pillars:
