Managing Sustainability

“Third by ’30” CO₂ Emissions Reduction Goal

Air Products has committed to reduce our carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions intensity (kg CO₂/MM BTU) by one-third by 2030 from a 2015 baseline. We expect to achieve this goal through a combination of approaches, including carbon capture projects; low-carbon and carbon-free projects; operational excellence efforts; and increased use of renewable energy.

We have a strong track record of meeting and exceeding our own sustainability commitments. The “Third by ’30” CO₂ intensity reduction goal is aligned with Air Products’ business strategy and higher purpose, with employees around the world driven to work together and innovate solutions to significant energy and environmental challenges.

Goals for Global Female and U.S. Minority Representation

As part of Air Products’ publicly stated goal of being the most diverse industrial gas company in the world, we are taking another measurable, transparent step towards achieving this objective with new goals to further increase the percentage of females and minorities in professional and managerial roles. By 2025, Air Products aims to achieve at least 28 percent female representation in the professional and managerial population globally, and at least 20 percent minority representation in that same population in the United States. These measures are increases from 25 and 17 percent representation (2020 baseline), respectively.

To achieve this inclusive workplace environment, Air Products has a Diversity, Inclusion & Belong strategy that focuses on four key areas: Attracting and hiring diverse talent; developing diverse talent; cultivating leadership accountability and engagement; and fostering an inclusive culture.

2020 Sustainability Goals

In 2016, Air Products set sustainability goals across all aspects of our Grow-Conserve-Care sustainability framework. This process was completed based on feedback from key stakeholders and the identification of our sustainability priorities. In 2019, we continued to make good progress against these goals, and as we reach the end of the 2020 framework, we are establishing a new set of sustainability targets.
