Air Products Tees Valley Renewable Energy Facility

Location

In choosing Teesside and the Reclamation Pond site, we have taken many factors into consideration, including land use guidelines, local planning and economic policies and the infrastructure that exists in the region. We believe that this site is an ideal location for a renewable energy facility.

The site for the proposed facility is set in an industrial area situated away from residential areas, and has already been highlighted for use as an industrial site.

The site already has good access to the local electricity distribution network, the National Grid and the associated electrical infrastructure, as well as having excellent road links. We hope to utilise this infrastructure alongside the local area’s green technology expertise and skilled labour force in constructing and managing an effective energy production project. The site is owned by Impetus, who currently deals with around 500,000 tonnes of waste per year. Working with Impetus, the Air Products facility is expected to process between 300,000 - 350,000 tonnes of waste per year, most of which would otherwise be destined to become landfill. This scheme will provide a sustainable alternative to landfill, using the waste to produce power for the North East region.

  • Industrial land, set away from local housing and close to a major industrial complex
  • Good access and connectivity to the local and national electrical distribution infrastructure with excellent road and rail links
  • Designated site with planning permission for plant and energy generation
  • Close proximity to the landfill disposal facilities owned by Impetus Waste Management Limited
