Safety Information Training & Hazards Review
Transport Emergency Cards (Tremcards)
Drivers of vehicles carrying dangerous loads, including high
pressure cylinders, must carry details of what to do in an
emergency. This information is often provided in the form of
Transport emergency cards - or Tremcards as they are usually
known. These cards are instantly recognisable. The information
they contain is laid out in consistent order. The cards are
always in the driver's cab in the driver's native language.
A card identifies the product and describes the nature of the
hazard. So the driver always knows exactly what is being carried,
and the immediate actions needed in the event of an accident.
The European Chemical Industry Council (CEFIC) has also provided
a series of Emergency Response Intervention (ERIC) Cards specifically
for use by fire brigades.
