Final Large Load Movement Taking Place on the 13th December 2009
On Sunday,13th December 2009 a sizeable item of equipment will leave Air Products’ manufacturing facility in Acrefair marking the last, large load movement from the site.
“Thank you to those communities that we’ve passed through over the years for their patience and understanding,” commented Laurence O’Donnell, General Manager - Acrefair, Air Products, “Although we’ve always worked hard to mitigate any impact our load movements may have had by investing in local road infrastructures, for example, we know it hasn’t always been easy.
“The Highways Agency, local authorities and police forces along with DSV, GCS Johnson and Quality Freight, have always played an invaluable role in our large load moves. We’d also like to thank them for their professionalism, which has helped us continually ensure the safe and smooth transit of our loads.”
The Acrefair manufacturing facility will officially stop production on the 18th December 2009.
To mark this significant occasion and thank the local community for their support over the years, Air Products is donating vouchers totalling £9,000 to Rhosymedre County Primary School in Acrefair and two local charities: Nightingale House Hospice and Hope Hospice.
Caroline Siddall, Income Generation Director at Nightingale House Hospice, said, “It really is testament to the generosity of people at Air Products that up-until their very last day, they’ve continued to support Nightingale House.
“For many years we’ve had a close relationship with Air Products and of course we’re sad their Acrefair facility is closing. However, this money comes at a crucial time and will help us replace all of the Hospice televisions needed following the digital switchover.
“Nightingale House Hospice provides specialist palliative care services, free-of-charge, to patients and their families who are living with life threatening diseases such as cancer. This year alone, it will cost £2.55 million to run the Hospice, this equates to £7,000 per day. Only 18% of this comes from statutory government sources. The catchment area which the Hospice covers is Wrexham, Flintshire, East Denbighshire to Barmouth and the border towns including Oswestry and Whitchurch.”
