Temporary surcharge for dispersions sold in Europe lifted
20th September 2007
— Air Products Polymers today announced it is lifting the surcharge it implemented on 1st July 2007, effective from 30th September 2007.
The initial surcharge was implemented as suppliers of VAM and PVOH had announced significant price increases and product restrictions, while others claimed force majeure at their plants. Strict volume allocations were in place, therefore impacting the quantity of product sold to customers, including Air Products Polymers. To ensure continued production, Air Products Polymers was forced to buy VAM on the spot market.
“Although supply has not reverted to the pre-surcharge supply status, we envisage we will be able to procure contract volumes in October, therefore, we see it as our obligation to lift the surcharge from 30 th September, in line with previous communication to our customers.” said Feike van der Heide, General Manager, Air Products Polymers, Europe.
