£1,000 donation helps breathe fresh air into local charity

27th March 06 — Local charity Family Friends (Ffrindiau i Deuluoedd) has received a donation of £1,000 from Air Products, helping to continue their important work with children (aged between 5-11 years old) and their families in the Wrexham area.
Family Friends is a voluntary organisation which relies heavily on both public and private support. It is vital that the Charity raises £3,000 every financial year as well as obtaining essential government funding, and this substantial contribution will help them to do this.
Family Friends provides practical and emotional help to young people and their families who live within the County Borough of Wrexham. Ranging from weekly home visits by volunteers to day trips, the charity offers a much needed support network for children and families with a variety of problems, such as those of a physical, learning or behavioural nature.
Laurence O’Donnell, General Manager at Air Products’ Acrefair plant, said:
“For nearly 50 years Air Products has had a significant presence in the area and our £1,000 donation to Family Friends has given us a great opportunity to give something back to the community where many of our employees and their families live and work.
Family Friends carries out vital work, and with the help of our grant, long may it continue!”
A local mother said:
“We went through a really bad time in our lives and Family Friends made a huge difference. If we had not had their help it is hard to say what we would have been like now. It’s great that this donation will mean the charity can go on helping other families like mine. ” |
