A large load movement could affect your journey
16th October 2003 A large load is set to leave
Air Products' Manufacturing Facility in Acrefair, North
Wales, bound for Ellesmere Port Dock Complex on Saturday
1st November. The load will then set off on its voyage to
the Air Products site in Ghent, Belgium.
This item of equipment is an Argon Box assembly 59.4 metres
in length, 4.3 metres wide, 4.28 metres high and weighing
139 tonnes. The box is the largest of its type ever moved
from Acrefair and, together with the two loads which left
the facility in September, will form an integral part of
the Cryogenic Air Separation Unit being constructed at Air
Products' existing plant in Ghent. The plant will produce
Oxygen, Nitrogen and Argon products by means of cryogenic
air distillation, for use by the local Sidmar steelworks,
a member of the Arcelor group of companies.
Due to leave Acrefair at 8am on Saturday 1st November,
the load, travelling by route B, will
arrive at Ellesmere Port Docks around 4pm on Sunday 2nd
November, after stopping overnight near Whitchurch. Once
in Ellesmere Port, the box will be loaded onto a ship and
depart for Ghent, its final destination.
The slow-moving load will be accompanied by a police escort
and motorists are advised to expect some disruption along
the route. Special attention should be paid to the A483,
which will be temporarily closed from approximately 7am-10.30am
on Saturday 1st November.
