Large load movements could affect your journey
18th September 2003 Between the end of September
and November a number of sizeable loads are set to leave
Air Products' Manufacturing Facility in Acrefair, North
Wales, bound for Ellesmere Port Dock Complex. The loads
will then set off on their voyage to the client's site in
Ghent, Belgium.
The first item of equipment is a Heat Exchanger Box, 18
metres in length, 6 metres wide, 5 metres high and weighing
118 tonnes and it will form an integral part of the Cryogenic
Air Separation Unit being constructed at Air Products' existing
plant in Ghent. The plant will produce Oxygen, Nitrogen
and Argon products by means of cryogenic air distillation,
for use by the local Sidmar steelworks, a member of the
Arcelor group of companies.
Due to leave Acrefair at 9am on Tuesday 30 September, the
load, travelling by route A, will
arrive on the A41 outside Whitchurch around 2pm the same
day, where it will remain overnight. The load will then
leave Whitchurch at 9am on Wednesday 1 October, bound for
Ellesmere Port Docks, where it is expected to arrive around
1pm.
The second item of equipment is a 53 metres long, 5 metres
wide and 6 metres high HP/LP (High Pressure/Low Pressure)
Column Box, containing the distillation column for the Air
Separation Unit. The HP/LP box will leave Acrefair at 8am
on Saturday 4 October and arrive at Ellesmere Port Docks
around 2pm on Sunday 5 October, after stopping overnight
in Whitchurch. This load will follow route
B. Once in Ellesmere Port it will be loaded onto a ship,
together with the Heat Exchanger Box, and depart for Ghent,
its final destination.
The slow-moving loads will be accompanied by a police escort
and motorists
are advised to expect some disruption along the route,
specifically around the movement of the HP/LP box which
will involve temporary closure of the A483 on Saturday 4th
October from approximately 7am-9.30am.
A third item of equipment is scheduled to move to the Dock
Complex in November and further details will be advised
closer to the time.
