Crewe Alex names winner of Air Products competition
18th August 2003 At last Saturday's match,
between Crewe Alex and Ipswich Town, Abby Louise Condliffe,
9, was named the winner of the Air Products Crewe Alex Opening
Season online game, and was awarded a brand new Sony PlayStation®2
and the latest football game. Air Products is the sponsor
of Crewe Alex's main stand, which has been renamed 'the
Air Products stand'.
The prize was handed over by Ron Hanley, European Planning
and Systems Manager, Air Products, who is himself a strong
supporter of the team.
'Saturday's match was a superb start to the season. Not
only did the team play well, but I had the ultimate pleasure
presenting Abby Louise with her prize - you should have
seen the smile on her face! I have been a Crewe Alex fan
all my life and so I was extremely proud to represent Air
Products at the start of our sponsorship of the main stand.
Other activities involving the local community and Air Products'
employees will be announced over the coming months and will
take place throughout the season. This competition marks
the beginning of an exciting season for Crewe Alex and Air
Products. We wish all the best to Dario Gradi and the team
for the forthcoming campaign in the First Division!' said
Ron.
The competition, sponsored by Air Products, ran over 2
weeks, on Crewe Alex's internet site, where applicants were
asked to answer the following question: 'What gas is used
to make a balloon float?' The answer was 'Helium'. The competition
proved to be a huge success, as more than 350 applicants
participated in the game.
