AIR PRODUCTS STRENGTHENS CRYOGENIC TECHNOLOGY POSITION BY LAUNCHING NEW REFERENCE WEBSITE AT
www.airproducts.com/cryogenics

26th February 2001 — What is believed to be the world's most comprehensive website explaining cryogenic technology and the range of processes to which it can be applied has been launched by Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD).

Located at www.airproducts.com/cryogenics, the site has been constructed as a single source of i nformation for individuals and companies operating in a range of industries, including chemicals, rubber and plastics, electronics, engineering, manufacturing and leisure.

"Organizations are facing pressure from increasing government regulations and other factors, and we often find that they may not have explored or be aware of the full range of possibilities that cryogenic technology offers," explains Diana McCormick, European Cryo Marketing Manager for Air Products.

"While there are other websites, typically, they are not commercially-driven or are focussed only on a single application. By hosting for the first time, the full range of cryogenic applications on one site, including case studies, we hope to provide a valuable resource that will help to improve understanding across all industries we service."

Cryogenics is the branch of science that harnesses 'cold' in a variety of technologies to achieve process changes that would not otherwise be possible.

Air Products is a world leader in cryogenic solvent recovery, cryogenic grinding and chemical reaction cooling while it has also pioneered the use of liquid nitrogen for commercial grinding of tough materials. The Cryo-Grind™ system, as it is known, employs a cryogenic process to embrittle and grind a wide variety of materials.

The site includes various technical papers and case studies, with more being added over time. This includes the company's work with European Vinyls Corporation (EVC), a world leader in the manufacture of polyvinyl chloride. The case study explains how the Air Products Cryo-Condap™ system is helping EVC to meet environmental regulations through the recovery of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC)/solvent emissions.

Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (www.airproducts.com) is the world's only combined gases and chemicals company. Founded more than 60 years ago and headquartered in eastern Pennsylvania's Lehigh Valley, the company has annual revenues of $5.5 billion and operations in 30 countries. Air Products is a market leader in the global electronics and chemical processing industries, and a longstanding innovator in basic manufacturing sectors, including steel, metal, glass and food processing. The company distinguishes itself through its 17,500 employees around the world, who build lasting relationships with their customers and communities based on understanding, integrity and passion.
