Do you supply components or fabrications used in construction?
EN1090 requires you to operate a certified Factory Production Control (FPC) system
The Construction Products Regulation (CPR) requires structural steel (including stainless steel) and aluminium products to be CE marked. EN1090 is a supporting standard which sets the requirements for conformity assessment of steel and aluminium structural components.
In order to CE mark structural products, manufacturers are required to operate a certified Factory Production Control (FPC) system. There are a number of Notified Bodies (NOBO's) which offer FPC certification. FPC certification requires welding activities to be documented and approved in accordance with ISO 3834 – Quality Requirements for Fusion Welding of Metallic Materials.
If you're not familiar with the requirements of the EN1090, you're not alone. A staggering 55%* of fabricators surveyed at a recent welding exhibition were unaware of this European Norm and its implications.
