Troubleshooting guide

If you encounter problems with your equipment:

If you are unable to find the solution to your problem from the information provided in this section, then please contact our Homecare Helpline on 0800 373580 between 8.00am and 5.30pm Monday to Friday where our customer service team will endeavour to solve the problem over the telephone. If this isn't possible, they will organise for one of an Air Products technician to come out to see you.

Concentrators:

Problem: Machine not working when turned on; audible alarm sounding

Cause: Power cord plug not properly inserted into the electrical outlet
Solution: Make sure the device is properly plugged into the electrical outlet

Cause: Electrical lead not inserted in machine
Solution: Insert lead correctly

Cause: No power from the electrical socket
Solution: Check your household outlet fuse or circuit breaker and reset if necessary. Use a different socket if this occurs again. Switch to your back-up cylinder in the event of a power failure.

Cause: Internal part failure
Solution: Contact Air Products

Problem: Low oxygen (amber light) activated

Cause: Air flow to device impeded or blocked
Solution: Check the condition of the air inlet filer and clean or replace as necessary. Remove any items that appear to be restricting ventilation around the machine.

Cause: Flow meter set above 4 litres
Solution: Turn flow meter to prescribed level

Cause: Flow meter adjustment knob completely closed
Solution: Turn knob anti-clockwise to centre the ball on the prescribed flow rate

Cause: Oxygen tubing kinked and blocking the delivery of the oxygen
Solution: Check that the tubing or cannula are not kinked or blocked. Replace if necessary

Cause: Wall taps, if fitted, are switched off
Solution: Ensure one wall tap is on. If amber light persists contact Air Products

Problem: Machine operating with green power light and red warning light on with audible alarm sounding. (Respironics Millennium and DeVilbiss models only)

Cause: All wall taps, if fitted, switched off
Solution: Ensure one wall tap is in the ‘ON’ position

Cause: Flow meter set to zero
Solution: Turn adjustment knob anti-clockwise to correct flow setting

Cause: Tubing and cannula blocked
Solution: Inspect, clean or replace cannula and tubing as required

Cause: Air filter blocked
Solution: Clean air filter and replace with spare filter

Cause: Outlet vent is blocked
Solution: Ensure air flow around the vent is unobstructed

Cause: Blocked or defective humidifier
Solution: Remove humidifier, clean and replace

Problem: Limited oxygen flow

Cause: Faulty oxygen tubing or face mask
Solution: Inspect and replace if necessary

Cause: Faulty humidifier bottle
Solution: Inspect bottle, unscrew lid and reattach. If problem persists call Air Products. Ensure the water is below maximum level.

Cause: Wall taps, if fitted, switched off
Solution: Switch on one wall tap

Problem: Alarm weak or not sounding when the power cord unplugged and power switch on

Cause: Battery weak (AirSep and Respironics Millennium models)
Cause: Capacitor is malfunctioning (DeVilbiss model)
Solution: Contact Air Products

Cylinders:

Problem: No flow or limited flow

Cause: Cylinder not turned on
Solution: Turn cylinder on

Cause: Cylinder empty
Solution: Replace cylinder

Cause: Outlet nozzle blocked
Solution: Contact Air Products

Cause: Tube blocked/split
Solution: Examine tube, replace if necessary

Problem: Leaking cylinder

Cause: Faulty valve
Solution: Turn cylinder off, move cylinder to a well-ventilated area. Contact Air Products

Problem: Unable to attach tubing

Cause: No outlet fitting or incorrect tubing
Solution: Turn cylinder off. Contact Air Products

Conservers:

Problem: Unit does not pulse

Cause: Dead battery
Solution: Replace battery

Cause: Oxygen tubing is blocked or kinked
Solution: Remove kinks. Replace if necessary

Cause: The supply tube and the cannula have been fitted to wrong connections
Solution: Make sure the supply tube is attached to the correct fitting, indicated by the symbol of a cylinder on the conserver case

Cause: Excessive pressure
Solution: Contact Air Products

Problem: Continuous flow

Cause: Dirty valve
Solution: Contact Air Products
