On the first visit, the Homecare technician will deliver and explain your oxygen equipment to you and make sure you are comfortable with it before they leave. They will discuss with you the safest place for you to store your oxygen equipment. If you are provided with a concentrator, the Homecare technician can install some plastic piping and wall taps in a different room so avoiding lots of oxygen tubing trailing around your home.
The standard delivery for your oxygen cylinders is three working days. This means that if you call us to order more oxygen cylinders on a Monday before 5.30pm, we will deliver before the end of Thursday. If you order oxygen cylinders on a Thursday before 5.30pm, we will deliver before the end of Tuesday.
You will need to be assessed to see if you need extra oxygen. Your General Practitioner (GP) should refer you to a specialist who will carry out an oxygen assessment and decide on the amount of supplementary oxygen you need.
The specialist will recommend the flow rate of oxygen and for how long you should use it. This type of prescription is called a ‘home oxygen order form’ (HOOF). Always use oxygen at the flow rate prescribed, never change it without consulting your doctor.
The HOOF is valid until changed or cancelled by your GP or respiratory specialist. Unless your oxygen needs or condition changes, you will not need to obtain a new HOOF.
When you need more oxygen cylinders, you don’t need a repeat HOOF. Simply call us on 0800 373 580 (8am – 5.30pm, Monday to Friday) when you start your last oxygen cylinder, or at least three working days before you’ll need delivery of a new oxygen cylinder.
The standard delivery for your oxygen cylinder refills is three days, as per the table below. However, if we are able to deliver sooner than this we will do so.
