Going on holiday with oxygen in England & Wales

It is possible to travel and go on holiday while dependent on oxygen.

However, it is beneficial to try to plan a holiday at least 2-4 weeks in advance and always seek medical advice before you book and travel on holiday. Take details of your ‘home oxygen order’ with you and any accessories you may need.

If you are travelling on holiday anywhere in England & Wales, the oxygen service is now free of charge. There are five easy steps for you to follow when going on holiday.

Step 1
Obtain permission from your GP or respiratory specialist to travel before you book your holiday.

Step 2
Obtain permission for your holiday oxygen equipment to be delivered and stored at your holiday accommodation.

Step 3 (England & Wales)
Contact your General Practitioner (GP) or specialist team as soon as possible before you travel on holiday. You will need to provide your GP or specialist team with:

  • the full holiday address, including the postcode
  • the dates of your holiday (from – to)
  • a contact name and telephone at the holiday address, not your home telephone number
  • the booking name and reference of the holiday where appropriate

Your doctor will then send us the holiday ‘home oxygen order’ and Air Products will then arrange delivery of your holiday oxygen supplies to your holiday destination, either by ourselves or via the local supplier.

Step 4
Your holiday equipment will be ready for you when you arrive and will be collected when you leave.

Step 5
Please ensure that you have enough oxygen cylinders for your journey to and from your destination.’
