Cylinder safety
As well as basic safety advice patients using oxygen cylinders should be advised of the following:
- Do not let children or untrained persons tamper with your cylinder.
- Do not cover or hang clothes or dusters on your cylinder.
- Close your cylinder valve (On/Off valve) when not in use.
- Keep your cylinder below 50°C (122ºF) in a well-ventilated place.
- Follow your technician’s advice on where to store your cylinders safely.
Do not smoke! Do not let anyone smoke near you!
Smoking will aggravate your condition and is dangerous when using oxygen.
