Helium – Liquid and Gas

As the world’s leading supplier of commercial helium, Air Products is able to offer a wide variety of choice in the helium market, from the single cylinder to decorate a party venue with balloons to large quantities of liquid or gas helium needed for industrial processes, such as semiconductor manufacture. We also offer a versatile array of helium grades, so you are bound to find one that suits your process, whether it be, the electronics industry, the oil industry, for medical and analytical use, the fibre optics industry, the aerospace industry or any of the many applications that require helium gas and liquid helium.

To find which helium offering is best for your needs, click on the links to the left, or read on to review a brief description of the different offerings that are available from Air Products PLC.

Both Pierre Janssens and Norman Lockyer are credited with discovering helium in 1868. Helium is the second lightest element after hydrogen and the second least reactive element after neon. In fact it wins a lot of second place prizes as helium is also the second most abundant element in the observable universe. Despite helium’s apparent abundance in the universe, on Earth it is relatively rare, being found only in certain natural gas fields around the globe.

Balloon Helium

Our helium gas cylinders for balloon inflation are designed with the user in mind. Air Products offers a range of sizes to suit the intimate birthday celebration through to filling hundreds of helium balloons for party planning businesses. Our helium cylinders are lighter and contain up to 50% more gas than conventional gas cylinders. Diving Helium

With over 35 years experience supplying gases to the North Sea oil and gas industry Air Products is well placed to offer advice and provide you with a reliable source of helium for deep sea diving.

At our facility in Aberdeen, Air Products has invested in an upgraded depot that can supply Heliox and other diving gases. To find out more about diving helium, please click the link above and use the contact link. tell me more ...

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

Helium is essential to the operation of MRI machines as liquid helium is able to cool most metal to temperatures near absolute zero. The electrical current is then able to flow without stopping, which is known as superconductivity.

As the world’s largest helium production and distributer, Air Products is perfectly placed to reliably supply liquid helium to keep your MRI machine functioning. tell me more ...
