Polymer Emulsions

A Leader in Polymer Technology

Air Products Polymers is a joint venture between the two world leaders in VAE (vinyl acetate-ethylene) emulsion technology. The venture combines the technology, experience and market position strengths to serve customers with the best product technology available -- with production facilities in Germany, Korea, México and the U.S. meeting the needs of the marketplace

Air Products serves eight major applications areas with a broad offering of polymer emulsions:

  • Adhesives
Airflex®, Flexbond®, Flexcryl®, Valtac®, and Vinac® emulsions are used for a wide range of adhesives applications, including packaging, wood bonding/furniture, pressure-sensitives, consumer glues, and film laminates.
  • Nonwovens
Airflex, Flexbond, and Vinac nonwoven binders provide excellent wet/dry strength, solvent resistance, and soft hand in disposable applications, such as wipes, towels, surgical packs, and diaper cover stock. These products also find use in durable nonwovens for automotive and furniture applications and for batting and filters.
  • Paints and Coatings
Airflex, Flexbond, and Vinac emulsions provide superior cost/performance benefits in a variety of interior and exterior paints. Ethylene-vinyl chloride emulsions are used in specialty coatings.
  • Textiles and Carpets
Airflex emulsions serve as carpet backing and fabric coating agents. Valbond® acrylic emulsions are used in hand-building and fabric-finishing applications.
  • Paper
Airflex and Vinac emulsions are used extensively in specialty coatings and saturants and as paper coating binders.
  • Building Products
Airflex, Flexbond, and Airbond® emulsions are used in a variety of applications, including joint cements, caulks, and a variety of building adhesives.
  • Inks and Graphic Arts
Vancryl® emulsions are used in the manufacture of high-quality, water-based inks and overprint varnishes.
  • Pressure Sensitive Adhesives
Flexcryl® coater-ready acrylic emulsions are specifically designed for PSA applications including paper, film or vinyl labels.
