Air Products European Graduate Programme

Our graduate scheme – the Career Development Programme (CDP) - is a strategic investment in the future of Air Products. For over 50 years, it has provided us with some of our top engineers and business people. In fact, many past and current leaders joined the company though the graduate programme including our Chairman, President, and CEO, John McGlade and Graham Rhodes, Regional Executive for Europe.

Your career
The programme is designed for graduates wishing to pursue careers in engineering (including mechanical, chemical and electronic), manufacturing, finance, IT, procurement, sales, R&D and marketing.

With support from human recourses and an assigned company-mentor, graduates ultimately plan and determine their own career path through a rotation of three assignments over three years. This means that graduates can gain experience of working in different functions, countries, disciplines and environments - from fully equipped laboratories, to onsite production plants or in one of our many offices around the world. Building a broad range of expertise and company knowledge in this way leads to a sound foundation on which to build a successful career.

Personal and professional development
We believe in investing in the future and career development of our graduates. Early in the programme, our new graduates from all over Europe meet with senior management for an introduction to the organisation. Graduates use the time to get to know each other and form an informal network which provides a source of help and support for the duration of the programme. This friendly atmosphere often leads to graduates becoming involved in regular sports and social activities through work.

As well as on-the-job training, additional opportunities include managerial and leadership skills training, languages, presentations skills, time management, safety, sales, computing and product familiarisation. Many of these activities – and more – directly support engineers in achieving chartered status.

All graduate recruitment is handled in-house; every application is closely assessed and considered. Selected applicants are then invited to an Assessment Centre – an opportunity for you to learn more about Air Products, and for us to learn more about you through team and individual exercises. Successful applicants will be made a formal written offer.
