Arts and Culture

We recognise that cultural resources are of great importance to the vitality and quality of community life. Our goal is to create wider opportunity for the enjoyment of and participation in arts and cultural activities for communities in which we operate.

Manchester Camerata

Manchester Camerata is a leading chamber orchestra based in the North West, where a number of Air Products sites are located including the UK head office in Crewe. Air Products has a long-standing relationship with the organisation which has led to a number of exciting and innovative projects.

Sponsorship of Manchester Camerata's Crewe Lyceum concert season

Air Products has been sponsoring the Camerata’s concert season at the Crewe Lyceum since 2004, giving Air Products employees and members of the community the opportunity to experience world class orchestral music.

Science and Sound

Science and Sound’ was a series of workshops led by Air Products technicians and Camerata musicians which reached an estimated 6000 school children in 23 primary schools in the region. The project aimed to show the children how science and sound are interlinked. The children then created a piece of music using scientific theory.

Air Products & Manchester Camerata were later awarded the prestigious Best Community Investment Partnership of 2005 Award for the most innovative, inspirational and effective partnership, at the Arts & Business BRAVO Awards.

Cosmic Notes

In recognition of National Science and Engineering Week 2007, a group of Air Products employees teamed up with Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) and Manchester Camerata, for a project that was literally, out of this world.

‘Cosmic Notes’ developed with the help of Air Products, enabled local children to enter their musical compositions into a competition where the winner’s music was to be played in space to Russian Cosmonauts on the International Space Station!

Following this project Air Products and Manchester Camerata were awarded the Liverpool European Capital of Culture 2008 Arts, Business and Sustainability Award, at the BRAVO Awards in 2007.
