The Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations (DSEAR) 2002 came into force on 9th December 2002. DSEAR implements the requirements of two European Directives: the safety requirements of the Chemical Agents Directive (CAD); and the requirements of the Explosive Atmospheres Directive (ATEX 137). The latest key date for compliance for existing installations was July 1st 2006.DSEAR is enforced by the HSE and applies to all dangerous substances at nearly every business in Great Britain.
