Effluent Plant Purging
Where effluent digester and gas plants are commissioned or
decommissioned they need to be purged using an inert gas.
Areation Performance Testing
Prior to the handover of an effluent treatment plant an
aeration performance test is usually carried out to confirm
the quoted aeration capacity installed with the plant.
Traditionally this testing uses hazardous chemicals such as
sulphite to deplete the oxygen levels within an aeration tank
before raising the dissolved oxygen levels using aeration
equipment. This could lead to potentially hazardous
chemicals remaining in the water that could be harmful if
discharged. Using APEX services is a more environmentally
friendly option as nitrogen is used as the de-oxygenation
chemical.
For both operations the service is supplied by using a mobile
purge unit, if required, in conjunction with nitrogen road
tankers and can be operated by a single technician. The
equipment can be rigged up and ready to go within one
hour. The APEX purge unit is fitted with regulators, relief
valves, a low temperature shutdown system and comes with
flexible gas hoses ending in a 11⁄2" BSP male connection.
